10. Planting trees is relatively easy and inexpensive
way to help cool your home. I planted one tree that shades my patio and patio doors (morning sun hit it directly) and dropped my summer electric bill by a fourth.

I am in the deep, deep South and it infuriates me to see all these houses with not a tree, not even a newly planted one, within a hundred feet.

Dumb, dumb, dumb.
