79. I don't think that it is stupidity that makes people smoke

because I don't think anyone would be that stupid.

Stupid enough to spend tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege of hugely increasing your chances of getting lung cancer, bronchitis and emphysema?

Stupid enough that you're not concerned about becoming one of those pitiful old people sitting in a diner in a wheelchair attached to a huge oxygen cylinder with a plastic pipe up your nose?

Stupid enough that you don't care that you may lose your larynx and need an electronic voicebox to talk?

Stupid enough that you spend your commute to work smoking in your car so that you smell absolutely disgusting for the rest of the day, so much so that I and my non-smoking coworkers try our hardest for the remainder of the workday not to come anywhere near you?

Stupid enough that you will huddle pathetically in a doorway outside on a freezing cold night clutching your cigarette?

No, nobody could be that stupid. It is simply an addiction like any other.
