144. In NYC people didn't sleep for months, years. "Comfort to the nation"
was going back to the bunker and asking Richard Clarke&al to pin this on Saddam. Didn't bother to go to NYC for 4 days - Clinton was there faster from Australia.
I remember clearly, weeks after 911, a bus rider started yelling at the driver and an argument ensues. Several people commented: "Thank god, back to normal" Up to that moment, everyone was speaking in hush voices and was excessively polite to each other. It was creepy.
That actually goes well with the news that Homeland security just cut NYC funds. I suppose some red staters are in more danger than us...
