So maybe they couldn't put together an emergency TV message live from AF1 (although this is the administration that spends millions of dollars on staged photo-ops so you 'd think they could at least put some of that communications expertise to work). But even the sound of a President's voice could have helped calm people down and reassure the nation that the world wasn't coming to an end. I remember how upset people were at DU, as the hours dragged by and Bush showed no signs of emerging from his hidey-hole.

I watched that sorry attempt at propaganda (the White House-endorsed "DC 9/11" movie) where they tried to convince us that Bush got mad at being whisked away. It ended up looking like an ineffectual hissy fit ... if he were really in charge, they'd have listened to him! So either he wasn't in charge ... or he is lying about his reaction that day, and never wanted to be out there leading the country.

And to think I even worried about whether he was okay.
