Is the GOP trying to provoke impeachment??

There is a theory out there that the higher-ups in the GOP are trying to provoke impeachment. I heard this over the radio the other day. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

The GOP may be willing to sacrifice the Bush administration and maybe even sacrifice the neocons in order to make a comeback in 2010.
There is some rumors that Karl Rove and other GOP political strategists are actually hoping that the Democrats move to impeach Bush and the entire administration. That way it may appear that the Democrats have a vendetta against the Republicans. It would reunite a divided GOP base and anger many independants that don't care about revenge; they just want the country to improve.

This may be why many in the DNC leadership have not started the impeachment call. They want to think about this a little. Pelosi said last month that impeachment is "off the table." And Howard Dean said there would be "at least an investigation" but he made no demand for impeachment yet.

Remember, this is politics. It's a chess game. The GOP, who doesn't seem to care about approval ratings lately, seems to be poised to sacrifice a few pawns to get in better position to make a bigger move. It's not a bad idea to be careful here. Theatrics only get you killed. The Democrats made critical errors the past 6 years underestimating the strategy of Karl Rove. You can hate his guts, but he is not a stupid man.

This is just my opinion and a theory by the way...
