I have never owned a flag and never will.

Although I have never subscribed to nationalism as a matter of principle, in recent years the flag has been co-opted by the Bushbots and fundies and has come to symbolize a blind allegiance to a mindset that I have come to despise. While I can recognize that not everyone who displays the flag adheres to that mindset, I suspect that there is an underlying presumption on the part of many Bushites that that is the case. I prefer not to provide them with even the tiny comfort of believing that they may have yet one more ally in their pathetic, mindless cause. In other words, as far as symbols go, I choose not to display a symbol that has come to have mixed meanings - some of which I find thoroughly repugnant.

Just my opinion. Obviously others will see it differently.
