For the past year, the only flags I've seen flown in my neighborhood have been the
Confederate Naval flag and Texas State flags...
(yep, I'm surrounded by freepers)
So, last weekend I pulled out my Betsy Ross version of the flag (that's the one
with the 13 stars in a circle) and guess what?
On the Monday after, I noticed 2 of my neighbors were flying the Stars and Stripes!
And they're flying them today!
(I may have started a revolution :-)

My point here is this:

I agree with Texasgal...the flag is a symbol and that flag represents freedom.
I don't agree with war, as it symbolizes a failure to make peace.
But a lot of people have gotten their shit blown away defending your and my right to
speak our minds.
Some of you choose not to fly the flag. That's fine.
Some of you choose to fly it upside down. That's fine.
Some of you choose to burn it in protest. That's fine.
Some of you disagree with what the flag represents. That's fine.

But some of us choose to fly it because WE BELIEVE IN FREEDOM, and we will not give
up on promoting the concept.

Memorial Day is the day that we say THANK YOU to the people that made the ultimate
sacrifice, believing in that concept.

I'm sure all of you will agree that this country is in pretty bad shape today,
but fly that flag this weekend, and tell people why you're flying it.
Don't give up on the concept!
