45. Maybe this is a good place to mention
that I'm planning a short trip this summer to do reconstruction work in the gulf coast - maybe a week or two in early July. I'm hoping to hook up with the Iraq Vets Against the War, who are making plans to be there, I think at the same camp. The ASL teacher at the school where I work is extending an invitation to a local School for the Deaf to come with us. I'm bringing teens from our school, where ASL is one of the most popular classes (a third of the students have taken it, I think).

So - my point. If any of you are interested in joining up with us, please send me a message. It would be a chance to help out people along the coast, and there will be a good mix of people that speak ASL fluently, that are trying to learn it, and that have no clue what in the heck you are saying at all. :)

It looks right now like we might have an interpreter coming with us as well.

For veterans that have lost some hearing (or not), it's also a good chance to meet and work alongside with some fellow veterans. They're all hearing, as far as I know.

(I'm not deaf, by the way, I just know enough ASL to make an ass of myself because I used to have a deaf friend/coworker.)
