I think you're being too critical of your own post. It's a great shot. As for the subject matter, I believe the common saying is "Photography is about taking cool pictures of stuff, not taking pictures of cool stuff." And yours is definitely a cool picture.
I was actually really glad I got to post mine first. That way, I didn't have to see any of the other entries before I posted. I personally always try to post relatively early because the more entries I see, the more intimidated I get. I don't think mine will get many votes (especially now that we have multiple baby pics in the mix) but it's one of my favourites (not sure exactly why) of the ones I haven't previously submitted. I'm willing to wager yours will get a lot more votes than mine.
