5. Would easily accept larger pictures, but can see why we shouldn't
1024 in width inside DUs forum format makes it a problem on many peoples screens I think, as it might need sideways scrolling.

It would definately hit the limit vertically for a large percentage. 800 on the vertical side already poses this problem I think - and it hurts the presentation of the picture.

So even disregarding the bandwidth issues, which are still relevant I am afraid, I would not recommend going over the 800 limit. As far as the filesize, 200KB is probably still a good limit. On a dialup 10 of those is not small thing. We are potentially talking several minutes to load a competition thread.

Now, having 2560*1600 to work with on top of a 20Mb line, I would love to see all the pictures in their full glory. But I think the rules are fine as they are.

And as far as enforcing them, I think we should.
In you daily life you can let your moral compass decide, but in competitions rules should be followed.

If anyone has problems getting a picture resized(pixel and filesize), I am pretty sure we have enough combined brainpower and helpfulness here to help anyone out with an easy and nontechieminded solution.
