We don't have enough progressives in our caucus. Had they ALL filibustered they wouldn't have had to capitulate. That's what I mean.
What you are suggesting (about a failed filibuster) is precisely what Kerry did in January with Alito. I thought that meant something, and I think it would have meant something here.
Maybe they thought they had the votes for the Specter amendment. Sigh.
I'm mad today. Beyond mad. Since the Republicans are intrinsically evil, I just feel the need to focus my anger on the Dems. But there aren't enough GOOD Dems is the problem. And that Harold Ford in Tennessee? He voted for torture in the House.
