Another gem from Smothering Dot Com:

http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=1...

"DS has been sick alot lately.

I really am at a loss. He seems to have constant respiratory infections. One after the other. He started having them when he went to daycare at 3 months old. I know going to daycare he will bring more stuff home, but this is ridiculous. He is 14 months old and has been sick maybe 6 times...ive lost count, maybe more. So far I have been able to treat them naturally. (we see an ND). I get various remedies and drops and such and he gets better, but it takes a long time and he seems to pick up something again in a few weeks.

Most recently he got sick about 1 month ago. It was by far the worse he has been and his junky cough was so bad I was very concerned about pneumonia setting in, he also had his first double ear infection...took him to the ND and was given some stuff. His chest/cough got better, but his ears stayed red. They didn't seem to bother him though and I know 88% of ear infections in children are viral anyway and go away without treatment. Anyway he got sick again with the same thing 2 weeks later. I tried giving him the same stuff the ND gave me the first time, but he didn't improve after 1 week so I took him back to see the ND and the ND said antibiotics!!

He says he rarely suggests them, but DS has lots of fluid in his lungs and he was concerned enough about pneumonia that he thought they were necessary. I HATE ANTIBIOTICS!!! I feel like eveytime I give him a dose I am poisoning him and setting him up for future problems. I feel like a failure

I have doubled his dose of probiotics and just pray that this will resolve and won't come back. I feel his issues are allergy related as does the ND and once he is better will persue allergy testing with the ND (not doing the mainstream medical testing as I think it is unreliable and I dont want to deal with more MD's!

I really believed that since he was unvaccinated he wouldn't have these problems. He would be healthy and never get more than a sniffle...like all the stories your hear about how healthy unvaxed children are. Why is my baby sick so much?? 'm scared giving him antibiotics is not the right desicion but I feel like I have to trust somebody and if the ND feels they are needed I guess I have to trust him.

Anybody have unvaxed kids who seem to be sick alot? "

So, apparently it's better to take PROBIOTICS because they're, like, "PRO" and not "ANTI"! Ironically, this mom who is so concerned about setting up her kid for future problems is doing just that by being medically negligent, and is too deep in her own woo to see that.
