Colonial American music?

I'm writing a script that takes place in Colonial Virginia. There is cause for one of the characters to be playing a piano forte. In all the research I have found, I can not find any reference to whether this is approapriate (if anyone in the colonies would have had such an instrument) and what kind of music they would have played.

I have found great information of their work, dress, firearms, food but nothing on any kind of recreation. I know they didn't have much time, but there must have been some music. Does anyone have any ideas>? Or anywhere to point me in the right direction?
