Came to Tennessee to be on the faculty at UT. Found out after moving here that my mothers family had roots in E. TN in the mid-to-late 1800s. Apparently some of them were 'ner do wells' and had to leave for parts unknown. Which turned out to be Kansas where my folks were from originally .
Actually, it can be a very pleasant place to live; politics and religion aside. I had planned to retire here (3 years and counting)but I'm having second thoughts.
