But that isn't really free thought. That's more simple honesty.

Each and every one of us will live with the consequences of the decisions we make. Deciding to give that power to someone else carries at least as much risk of negative consequences. Those who wish to control the behavior of others will, as you are doing, make strong appeals to authority, popularity, guilt by association and fear.

Everyone who aspires to actually think for themselves must learn to see through that screen.
