nothing is being done to stop it.
From what I read in the article linked at the ABC site (
this article, there were threats of physical harm against the child as well. The last time I checked, that has nothing to do with any kind of "brain disorder" on the part of the victim of the threats. Usually, threats of bodily harm are punishable by law. Yet, no one did anything to protect him.
Whether the kid was gay or not is immaterial. He was a victim of homophobia and unrestrained bullying. No one would help him. Countless numbers of children have gone through it and countless numbers are currently going through it. Children are dying (sometimes, it is
homicide instead of suicide) because no one in a position of authority will punish the bullies.
Something is wrong with a society that believes in
punishing the innocent and letting the bullies continue. There is no justice in a society with that mentality.
If more people had enough compassion to say to themselves, "There, but for the grace of God, go I." when they see another person being bullied, something might get done about bullying. Until then, sadly, it will continue.
I'm sorry you had to endure that type of daily torture too.
