7. Since I go way back, let me give you this one
The 49ers traded up to get the first overall pick in exchange for several picks in order to draft Heisman Trophy winner Steve Spurrier. The 49ers already had a top-ranked quarterback in John Brodie. Brodie played until 1973; Spurrier retired from pro football in 1976.

Spurrier never set the hills on fire in the NFL.
