Generally I don't have much of a beef with the University (OU), its players, its coaches or its fans - but I really do think the symbolism of the Sooner mascot is highly inappropriate. It never ceases to amaze me that so many Okies are so proud of their land run boomer sooner heritage. Most are not ignorant of it - they simply think it is no big deal. This is the same logic that justifies Senator Frist's insider trading - he acted before he was legally allowed to do so to his financial advantage. This is not behavior that should be honored or glorified.

Edit to add: I don't doubt that the influx of Texans hurt this state. Shrubbie is proof enough.
