I assumed that it was most likely related to his injury, rather than to enhance his performance in the ring. I am concerned that it has more to do with keeping control of the "championship." John Ruiz is kept at the top for reasons other than his boxing skills. Toney, on the other hand, has crossed numerous promoters in his career. I would put Toney at the bottom of the list of athletes who would be likely to try to cheat with steroids. His personality is not such that he is going to count on anything but his own tough self to compete.
