Basically, it is those who offer the claim that need to offer evidence. Atheist don't see the need to disprove something for which there is no rational evidence.
But it gets deeper than that.
If you say, "I believe as a person of faith we should do this." We would ask what you base that on.
Political and social issues are discussed all over DU. Here we discuss Religion and Theology, no question is not allowed and nobody gets a pass because of their faith. Religion does not have a special dispensation in our debates. Just as we can challenged some one's views on other topics, so too can we with religion.
We don't demand you defend your faith, we just don't give it a free pass.
