and i dont think many people are well enough informed of the alternatives to cults..

i used meditation to quit drinking, 28 years of alcoholism,.. it worked really good. after meditating about 6 months i ran into a Tibetan Lama ..this was in West Texas.. i was invited to his Chinrezig Center, i studied Buddhism for 4 years, 3 meetings a week in meditation, various mind training techniques, etc before i became a Buddhist. Buddhism isn't a Religion it is a method of training the mind.. it gas no god or Prophet. Buddha means one who is Awake. Buddhism is based on a single Logical statement a man discovered 2600 yr ago. it involves no faith, it works or it doesn't. i really didn't learn that much, i learned much thru their instutional practice and techniques.. i had come to believe what Buddhism was before i really knew what it really was..

i was a scientist i had done extensive studies in religion and "Groups".. i was even kidnapped by the Moonies and taken 500 miles away, it took me a week to get away from them... and back home.

people do things because someone makes it sound good or they think they'll get layed thru it... people in this country are very ignorant about reality..
