While it conflicts with church doctrine, the First Amendment protects our right to use Mormon marriage ceremonies in the manner with which we see fit. Therefore, when same-sex marriage becomes legal federally (and it will) the church will adapt itself to the situation. The church still functions in Spain, the Netherlands, and Canada, as well as Massachusetts and Connecticut, all of which have legal same-sex marriages.
