14. "secular fundie" makes no sense at all
does it?

I understand why some might see the raising of voices done by the secular/agnostic/atheist crowd as whining or even scary, but I don't think it's too difficult to look at our society to figure out why.

Most of the above tend to stay quiet about their non-belief because they have to, and to be polite. Sure, there are some that are loud about it, but the truth is most people don't discuss religion in conversation. And the ones I personally know who are loud about their non-belief come from religious families and have a grudge.

But anyway, look at how the Religious Right - completely backed by the mainstream media - are trying to tear down the wall of separation of church and state. This country was never meant to be a theocracy, yet more and more there has been a concerted effort to make it so. Those of us of either no faith or of minority faiths generally resent this, and as we feel we are being pushed further and further into a corner, are starting to raise our voices and "fight back."

So I guess if you want the alleged "secular fundies" to shut up, then perhaps you could work with them to prevent the Religious Fundamentalist Extremists from taking over and ruining a great country. Does that make sense? It makes a lot more sense than trying to equate people who cannot change their belief systems which are based on an "infallible" 2000 year old book (which is full of contradictions) to people who are just trying to ensure that America remains free and open to all beliefs and non-belief and everything in between.

So if being for keeping America is "fundamentalist" then I suppose so is fighting to keep all of the other rights which make this country great.
