It's not like Ashton was even the first to marry an older woman who was massively rich and successful, with enough money to float an aircraft carrier.
Cary Grant did it too--he married a wealthy older woman named Barbara (middle name WOOLWORTH) Hutton who helped his career-she opened doors, as she was stinking rich. She ended up having seven husbands and blowing her fortune, but she apparently had fun while so doing. They called the pair, while they lasted, "Cash and Cary."
