1. I have heard that this is a good series.
Maybe I will pick up some of the books.

I am reading "The Ballad of Tom Dooley," by Sharyn McCrumb. For those who have not heard of her, she lives and writes in the Virginia Blue Ridge. It has been said of her that in an earlier life, she must have been an Appalachian balladeer.

She has written many other books set in her native area. Many of them retell legends and historical events that took place in her area. Some of them move back and forth in time. I never miss them.

McCrumb did some new research before retelling this story. She comes up with a new twist on the story of Tom Dula. She retells it like a mountain version of "Wuthering Heights." This is a good book!
