 Cartoon posted in the Charlotte Observer on 4/30/2011 about NC GOP anti-voting bills (several of them) "How can anyone believe we're trying to drive down voter turnout?" North Carolina Republicans have a majority in both the state house and state senate for the first time in 112 years. Now that they have control, they are planning to pass several different voter suppression laws: A very strict Photo ID law, Shorten early voting, and eliminate Same Day Registration (only used during early voting anyway). They initially wanted to give back $6M in HAVA funds because they didn't want any of it to be used to help with in person voting and also early voting. They have a real war going on against in person voting. |
