4. To mis-quote McCain, The fundamentals of our election system remain unsound.
Until the fundamentals change (we get paper ballots and robust AUDITS where optiscans are used), we better not fold up our tents. Here's the assessment at Election alliance:

"In 2008 the exit poll discrepancy was considerably smaller than in 2004, but it was still well outside the margin of error. I wont calculate an exact number, since we dont have all the data yet. But its safe to say that the difference is very unlikely to be explained by chance alone."
