Crook calls for Nats to break from Libs
Advertisements [?]
Rebel West Australian MP Tony Crook has called on his federal National Party colleagues to break away from the Liberals.

"I don't see any point in being a polite and compliant partner in coalition if you are going to get rolled constantly," Mr Crook told Fairfax Media.

As well, he said his independence from the federal Nationals might even extend to supporting a price on carbon.

Mr Crook won the giant federal seat of O'Connor for the West Australian Nationals from Liberal Wilson Tuckey, but has chosen to remain unaligned, or sit on the crossbenches, in the new Federal Parliament.

He said the Nationals needed to be "more assertive" in delivering outcomes for regional Australia.

"What's wrong with breaking away from any particular organisation to try to deliver that?" he said.
