It is very rare to hear of a raid on a Meth lab in this state. In the past, I assumed it was because there just weren't that many.
Whether or not there is an actual increase in meth-related crime in this state, I can only take the word of our police and legislators. I haven't seen any evidence of it in the media. But then again, our media has pretty much turned into useless, festering crap across the state, imho. Chances of seeing anything of importance in the media is pretty slim.
I think the mere thought of a sudden increase scares cops in the northern (and very rural) part of this state so they've made "prevention" an issue.
And of course the "law & order" party wants to capitalize on this (read take away civil liberties) so they have worked very hard to make it sound like an absolutely huge problem in order to pass legislation that sets up restrictions on all sales of pseudoephedrine and perhaps even a database to track purchases - just so they can catch a few hundred bad guys.
Problem is, it has me wondering how, exactly they plan to use this proposed database. Will it become an excuse to raid the homes of families where several members just happen to have come down with a cold at the same time, causing them to make several purchases of Sudafed in a month?
