I am currently just over the border in Mc Farland, which is a great place to live. Keep in mind that the cost of living is much higher in Madison than most of the surrounding communities, especially property taxes!

If I were coming to Madison right now I would check out Mc Farland, Verona, Middleton, and Fitchburg. Any of those places are just seconds outside Madison and have great small(er) town atmospheres.
