for a crew of troglogdytes that complain about "thuggish unionists", these guys take the cake.

I told this story once before, but it's worth telling again.

Back in the 80's my dad's yard signs kept disappearing. Formerly a rural community, the developers had recently moved in and built a fairly exclusive golf course (Bear Creek Country Club) immediatley adjacent to my father's 7 acres. The signs that were disappearing were placed facing the entrance to the golf course.

After several thefts, my dad, a union printer, brought home cans and cans of this thick, rubberized ink. On the back of each yard sign, he placed a thick coat of this sticky black ink. He then posted the signs and checked on them often.

Not long after posting the signs, my dad noticed a either a mercedes or a beemer (I don't remember which) stop as they turned into the drive to the golf course. A man with what looked like a beautiful brown leather jacket jumped out crossed the property line and grabbed my dad's sign. Feeling the slimy ink on the back of the sign, he instictively pulled his hand back and wiped this ink down the front of his lovely coat.

Yard signs stopped disappearing from that point on.

The moral of the story: Always be prepared to go one step further than your adversary.
