there's should be lots of country for hiking. You'll be near Battle Creek home of the cereal. Jackson isn't too far.. huge prison over that way.. what else? Lake Michigan should be close. Of course there are restaurants and clubs although I couldn't give you any names, I live in South East Michigan and don;t got over to that part of the state too often.
