15. "lake effect"
As a former resident of Rochester, NY, for 9 years, those are words to chill the heart and ache the back. The last winter I spent in Rochester saw snow depths that buried the fence and made it impossible to see traffic when backing out of the driveway for more than two months. The snow was so deep that I literally had to throw it above my own head (I'm 6'2") when shoveling the drive and walkways. I was living in Silicon Valley by the next winter ... and kissing the ground daily for the blessings of living there.
