13. Forty percent of U.S. households ALREADY own guns...
Ordinary citizens do not need guns. Get rid of the guns entirely; if they aren't available legally or illegally neither 'law abiding citizens' OR criminals can get their hands on them.

Forty percent of U.S. households ALREADY own guns. One third of women, and a quarter to a third of Dems and indies, already personally own a gun.

You will NOT take them, and even attempting to do so would be political suicide.

Merely raising the price on over-10-round handgun magazines, and requiring some new civilian rifles to have fake adjustable stocks instead of real ones, cost the House AND Senate in 1994 and the presidency in 2000. Care to speculate how well launching a damn civil war in order to take guns from forty percent of U.S. households would go over?

There is only one way I can think of to launch an Iraq-style insurgency in the United States, and you just advocated it. Let's not go there, please.
