Obama's visit Saturday would be his 2nd trip to Indy

Details of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama's stop in the Circle City, including time and location, were not immediately announced.

No details were available by late this afternoon on the time or location of the campaign stop, nor how people might be able to attend. <snip>

Indiana voters and particularly the 72 delegates at stake in the May 6 primary election have taken on a new importance as Obama is waging a close contest with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton for the Democratic nomination.

With neither having the 2,025 delegates necessary to claim the nomination, every primary is essential.

Shannon Gilson, a spokeswoman for the Obama campaign, said details of the trip werent final. But Obama will campaign aggressively in Indiana, she said. We have an energized base of support, and were starting to build our organization.

Kip Tew, a longtime Democratic insider in Indiana politics who is coordinator of Obamas campaign here, said that clearly, we are very excited hes coming to town. It shows hes going to take Indiana very seriously.
