Which this reform push was based upon. There is no real ideological reason for an entire contingent of Democrats to not only continue to advocate watering it down further, but to defend the current direction vehemently. And while ideology can most certainly blind people, I mention it to point out that some may be more driven by bandwagon mentality than anything intrinsic to their party platform. Anyway you cut it, there is a ton of compromise by both groups on the left of the Republicans throughout this debate, and I don't think "All or Nothing" is an accurate description, anymore than "Settle for any 'reform' at any cost" is for the "centrists".

As long as Ive read Krugman, he has been very positive about the general idea of health care reform (even prior to this current debate about a mixed market, mandated and subsidized system).
