3. There's something weird with that, because they could take the
pensions away, and that's why the ERISA was enacted.

The economy was strong in those eras and I agree our parent's generation, if we were baby boomers, had it good, and that's why now they are so conservative. They think the world is the way it was when they were young. Anyone who started a family in the 40s, as long as they were white, could do OK. Even earlier for some.

That's why they don't get the need for government intervention.
