49. They're in a lost position. If this were a game of chess, I'd praise them for their guts.
They have nothing to lose politically by opposing President Obama, just as a losing chess player has nothing to lose by making it difficult for his opponent to convert the advantage to a win and even setting a cheap trap. The annals of master games are full of examples of "swindles" where a game turned around by the tenaciousness of one of the players or of the losing player waiting until the winner avoids that last trap to resign.

Unfortunately, the rest of us have something to lose and I wish they'd stop fighting on the wrong side of class warfare.
