But they have to live with a crappy senator, that was picked with the knowledge she was underqualified, in the meantime?
Don't get me wrong, you could pick a state senator and they could be bad. But you minimise the chances of them being bad if you pick someone better qualifed.
"But she deserves the shot"
Hillary didn't deserve to be president because Bill cheated on her. McCain didn't deserve to president because he got tortured in a cell for 7 years. Personal turmoil has nothing to do with 'deserving' a high profile political postion.
