I think what is throwing off your list is that many, many wealthy people, including Hollywood types, with business interests contribute to both sides of every campaign -- mainly to protect their interests.
Lear, Douglas and Jones are pretty openly liberal. Lear even financed several big liberal organizations. All three are listed as far left by the "Hollywood Republicans" site.
