| 45. But here's the thing....I don't mind paying property taxes |
|
and I don't see it as a burden. But if the schools are that bad in your neighborhood, shouldn't you be electing local officials that make education a priority?
I understand charter and magnet schools, that are district by district. If your tax base allows for that all well and good. But a private school is still a private school - people who can afford to send there kids are living in neighborhoods with good school systems as it is.
i see the charter school concept as a bad one for neighborhoods, because it is truly elitist. You would opt to pull the money out of your community to send your kid to school elsewhere, and those that do wind up at public school in your district have even less funding.
But then again, going to the next logical step - if vouchering is for allt he proletariat - then no one would opt for sucky public school anyways, since it's no extra cost to them, and woohoo! yet another "BIG GOVERNMENT PROGRAM" defunded. Education gets privatized.
I want to go to Coca-Cola Kellog Brown and Root High School.
