Hi there, this is my first post here at DU, but I've been a big fan for many years. I think this AIP story has very strong legs and really want to see it get out. The other posters in this thread (and on Daily KOS) have some great info that I compiled into an email which I will be sending to all my friends and family. I hope you find it useful and forward it on as well... Let's get this out of the blogosphere and into the MSM.
Secessionist Sarah
Why did John McCain pick a Vice Presidential running mate who supports Alaskan secession from the United States of America?
Sarah Palin, John McCain’s surprise VP pick, belonged to the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP) before she joined the Republican Party. The AIP’s main goal is for Alaskans to achieve independence from America.
She addressed the AIP State Convention in 2008 stating, “I share your party’s vision”. You can watch the entire video of her address here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwvPNXYrIyI
And, here is a video of the Vice Chairman of the AIP, Dexter Clark, praising Gov. Palin for her former membership in the AIP and her support: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHFY1otOWjQ
Later, the Vice Chairman tells the AIP Convention to “INFILTRATE a Political Party if you have to…that's one way of doing it.” Interesting that Sarah Palin switched from the AIP to the GOP once she entered politics…
Why would John McCain, who says he puts “Country First” nominate someone who is clearly so un-American???
If you don’t believe me, check out this quote:
"I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions."
-- Joe Vogler (Founder of the Alaskan Independence Party, who died in 1993 and was buried in Dawson City, Yukon Territory, Canada, fulfilling a wish that he not be buried under the American flag)
John McCain admits he only met Sarah Palin once before picking her as his running mate. Maybe he didn’t know this truth about her. But, now that you and I do, I suggest we ask that John McCain choose a different VP who shares our American values, as opposed to someone who doesn’t even want to be an American. And, to make sure our voices are heard, forward this message to as many of your friends as possible!
