6. Maybe all of the finalists
in the VP contest are sitting home, waiting for a phone call. Or, better yet, sort of like Ed McMahon and the Sweepstakes thing, the new VP will actually know when a crowd of Secret Service agents and the press all appear at the front door!

I'm having fun imagining that. It's almost a shame Congress isn't in full session, with every one of the sitting Representatives and Senators who (or so many on DU think) are being seriously considered. Picture the door of the chamber being opened, and Ed McMahon pushing through, with balloons and a giant sign -- which has the name of the new VP covered up as yet -- and making his way across the floor until he finally stops at the desk of that Rep or Senator and rips off the covering, and then we all know who the VP is!

Of course, the scenario would be slightly different if a sitting Governor is the one, but still.
