1. I don't see how it will help McCain...
When crap like this used to go off, it was the US that was at the forefront of helping to curb or stop hostilities in a diplomatic way... this time it was France doing that.

Not to mention it looks like the Georgian Pres. was told the US had his back (militarily) if he wanted to start any shit, and did not deliver.
