203. Actually he did say something like that, so his instincts were right. He just changed his mind.
The first question was some gossip about him being angry and bitter and he squashed that one. Then came the "some people" saying he cost Hillary the nomination. He actually told the reporter that he wasn't going to talk about it because it could only distract from the real issue of who should be the next President. Great answer and perfect. Inexplicably, there he was in the next moment going on and on about one of those distracting questions that he should have refused to answer. She just kept poking at him and poking at him until she hit something that got the response she was looking for and then he effectively accused Obama of playing the race card on McCain. That's nuts.

Frankly, I'm not thinking it was calculated as we know he knew what kind of no-win questions she was asking the first two times he called her out on it, but I think the issues around race really hurt his ego and that's where she got him.
