60. He was not swiftboated
He got flack when he said HRC was swiftboated in and after the Philly debate in 2007. Many of us were outraged when he used that term. What she was hit with was what the frontrunner always gets.

What hurt Bill Clinton was Bill Clinton. His behavior from the eve of the NH primary until Obama was the conclusive winner was what hurt him - not lies - just what he said and did. (One clue of why he is now so bitter is that he gambled and lost. I don't like anonymous sources, but one of the cable people spoke of a Clinton friend saying that Clinton had told him that he knew that he was damaging his reputation before SC, but that in 4 or 8 years in the WH, that reputation would be more than recovered. As it is, that damage is likely not permanent - as a former President he will have plenty of opportunities, like this Africa trip, to recover.
