shortly after that. I do not know what the current rates are but they are probably comparable. The Military Academies are an extremely tough place to be. And yes, if both his Dad and his Grandfather were admirals, there would be massive pressure on him to not drop out. One of the things the Academies do when you say you no longer want to be there is they call your parents to try to convince you to change your mind. I'm also sure they would have reduced pressures on cadets like McCain. If he expressed any interest in leaving at any point, they separate those cadets from the rest until at some later point they either drop out completely or are reconditioned to go back.

I agree however, that his creds are fair game if he's using them politically or using his status with Veterans organizations. He deserves to take a beating on his disgraceful support of Veterans and his stance on Torture.
