I thought Kerry was no Dukakis?

I must say I am very disappointed with the performance of our nominee in the past two weeks. In 1988, we supposedly learned our lesson that we can't allow vicious (read: Willie Horton, etc.) attacks to go unanswered by the candidate. Oh, Dukakis responded, true....just the way John Kerry is responding, with a stuffed shirt attitude void of passion and anger. The lesson from '88 was we wouldn't let the smears define the candidate and give any room for the definition to stick. Dukakis thought "others" could fight back. Dukakis lost 40 states. Is this looking familiar to anyone else? Only 84 days until election day. I hate to be negative, but this is not what we were promised.
