49. Again, what does Obama GAIN from supporting this FISA bill?
I can tell you what he gains from opposing it.

Tell me what he gains by supporting it. Because it looks like he gains NOTHING.

The strategy should be offense, at this point. It was offense on the gas tax suspension (opposing it). It was offense on negotiating with enemies (a much TOUGHER stance to defend from a national security/foreign policy standpoint). It was offense on the Iraq war (opposing it when everyone SUPPORTED IT). It's offense on off-shore drilling right now (opposing it).

Taking the right stand on issues is what has gotten Obama this far. Taking the Republican positions and throwing them right back in their face is what has Obama winning. If he wasn't afraid of the Republican attacks on THOSE aforementioned issues, why should he all of a sudden be afraid of them now?

There are many issues that we will have to compromise on. I don't think this should be one of them.
