Even in the statement "I gave you more credit" is the focus on the DUer shown ... the presumption that someone's opinion of ME instead of what I say in my posts is of the slightest validity. It's the arrogance of parentalism ... the autocratic parent whose OPINION of the CHILD is of paramount import. It's poor parenting and even poorer social intercourse. I have sympathy for children raised uunder such a regime and no patience for those who'd deal with other adults in such a fashion.

Indeed, I personally see it as a form of emotional abuse. I've seen it in my family, close up and personal. I've seen it in psychological support groups ... and it's insidious.
